You control your brain; your brain does not control you! — Dr. Caroline Leaf
Self-control is not the ability to say no to bad things. Self-control is the ability to say yes to something so completely that all other options are eliminated–including things that aren’t necessarily bad in themselves but that would distract you from pursuing the thing that is most important and valuable to you. — Danny Silk
June 1, 2013, only weeks before I turned 55, I began a personal weight loss adventure. I finally let down my guard (my self-imposed fortress of fat) and submitted to a program to reclaim my health. My losses were good, and I achieved a lot, but I needed a fresh outlook as I had stalled a bit.
The summer months had been personally challenging in ways I couldn’t begin to articulate, and life took control. Realizing that life would always be life, I decided I wanted to continue my adventure. So, the consultants guiding me suggested I try a new food plan, and off I went — reset and refocused.
It was the kick in the pants I needed and I couldn’t be more grateful. I begin a new workout plan tomorrow and a new food plan November 1.
